Cosmetic Acupuncture

We are lucky enough here at Inner Balance to be offering Cosmetic Acupuncture as one of our services from our brilliant Acupuncturist - Dr Merna El Chabaan (Chin Med).

Wrinkles can occur at any age

Frowning is the major culprit when it comes to having wrinkles between the eyebrows, stress is a huge factor, you may not even realise you a frowning when you’re sitting or driving.

Acupuncture is a great way to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, scars and tired and drooping skin.

Cosmetic acupuncture is a great treatment to train the muscles of your face to remain smooth and to enhance facial skin rejuvenation.

There are 43 muscles in the face and over the course of the day we activate many of them which can increase the signs of wrinkles. Cosmetic acupuncture is a great natural alternative to having chemicals inserted into your body and having any adverse side effects that may accompany that.

What to expect:

Cosmetic acupuncture  involves inserting fine acupuncture needles into the skin, it is generally a painless procedure and is very calming.

Our treatments also include gua sha which is a technique that involves jade being massaged on the skin with jade implements. Jade is a stone that is said to have the elixir of eternal life and can be used on the face can support circulation, reduce puffiness and inflammation, as well as smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.

This may also support the relaxation of muscles as well as drainage of fluids that may be causing your skin to look dull, and lifeless. If you are someone that suffers from puffy eyes

this technique is very effective in reducing the appearance

How does cosmetic acupuncture work?

Acupuncture increase collagen production, the process of inserting the needles in specific areas on the face the acupuncture creates microtrauma just under the skin surface The bodies natural process is to recognise this and starts to produce collagen and elastin, to the response of the needles. this is the healing response of the body.

Over several treatments the acupuncture will tone muscles under the skin causing the skin to be tighter, the collagen production will mean that wrinkles will start to appear less defined and may begin to fade.

Cosmetic acupuncture can be used to target

  • Wrinkles
  • Sagging skin
  • Large Pores
  • Lift and tone neck and facial muscles
  • Reducing the appearance of large pores.
  • Dropping/Drooped eyelids
  • Puffy eyes
  • Dry blotchy skin
  • Redness and uneven skin tone
  • Darkness around eyes
  • Acne
  • Scars

How many treatments?

For best results treatments are recommended to be twice a week for 4 weeks in which we will then reassess at that point.

However coming in once a week can also be beneficial, you should notice with first treatment that your skin appears brighter and plumper. Skin will also appear more toned and hydrated with less redness and/or pale or dry blotchy areas

After Care

As part of the treatment, your acupuncturist will provide you with some options when it comes to enhancing the effectiveness of the treatments, the options will be discussed during the consultation.
